# Locking & Mining Power

Examine how locked tokens, commitment duration, and wallet limits determine a participant's effective mining power.

Mining Power is defined as:

$$
\text{Mining Power} = \text{Locked Tokens} \times \min(1, \text{Days Committed} / 14)
$$

| Variable       | Meaning                                 |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| Locked Tokens | Amount of USEGPU committed by the miner |
| Days Committed | Commitment duration                     |
| 14             | Full-power commitment period            |
| min(1, x)      | Caps the time multiplier at 1.0         |

`Locked Tokens` is the amount of USEGPU committed. `Days Committed` is the commitment duration. The value `14` is the period required to reach full Mining Power. `min(1, ...)` caps the time component at 100%.

Mining Power cannot exceed the amount of tokens committed under this formula. It does not use a separate APY multiplier, boost, score, or weight.

### Power progression

The commitment requires at least 14 days. Mining Power progresses linearly according to the source:

* Day 1: approximately 10% Mining Power.
* Day 14: 100% Mining Power.
* After day 14: Mining Power remains at 100%.

The day-one percentage illustrates the stated linear model. It does not define a separate power rule.

### Wallet limit

Maximum Mining Power per wallet is 1.5% of total token supply.

At a total supply of 1,000,000,000 USEGPU:

$$
1{,}000{,}000{,}000 \times 1.5% = 15{,}000{,}000\ \text{USEGPU}
$$

The source allows multiple wallets. Each wallet has its own Commitment and wallet-level Mining Power limit.

### Token balance and Mining Power

A wallet can hold USEGPU without those tokens contributing to Mining Power. Only Locked Tokens enter the Mining Power calculation.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://whitepaper.usegpu.app/mining/mining-overview/locking-and-mining-power.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
